Mercedes celebrates 50th anniversary with three new special edition vehicles

Mercedes is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year by rolling out three new special edition models of the Mercedes-AMG.

The three new special edition vehicles will be rolled out at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The legendary German tuning company AMG, was originally founded in Affalterbach, Germany, in 1967. The division is now the wholly-owned performance arm of Mercedes-Benz.

The first special edition model the automaker will be rolling out is the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50. This model is based on the standard AMG flagship. This means that the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque.

The Edition 50 is essentially an appearance package. The package adds matte design Graphite Grey Magno paint and black chrome accents on the side skirts, front splitter, air intakes and rear diffuser.

The interior of the Edition 50 comes in a contrasting black and silver theme. The car also features silver touches throughout the interior and the seats get a special Edition 50 badging. Standard on the vehicle is the AMG Interior Night Package, which adds black steering wheel spokes, shift paddles and door sills.

Next in line, is the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe and Cabriolet with the AMG Performance Studio Package. Like the Edition 50, this vehicle is essentially an appearance package that includes several grey and black accents inside and out. On the radiator grille, black accents are used rather than chrome. The trim on the splitter, rear bumper, side skirts and spoiler are all blacked out as well. Inside the vehicle, consumers will find the flat-bottomed steering wheel is finished in Nappa leather and microfiber.

The Coupe and the Cabriolet both offer a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that cranks out 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque.

The final special edition model is the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition. Only 150 models will be produced, and each one will get a top and certain interior accent bits in the unique ocean blue hue. The ocean blue color extends to the trim on the bumper, wheel center caps, and contrasting stitching in the grey interior.

The Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition also comes with standard features like the Mercedes Air Scarf and the steering wheel from the S63 AMG Cabriolet.

All three special edition Mercedes will debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale this summer.
